Greetings all,
First of all I would like to thank you for having me as President for the next year. There have been a lot of positive things happen over the past two years and much of that has to do with the great volunteers that we have and the great job Al has done, the Presidents shoes became harder to fill after Al’s term.
As we start out a new year of flying I would like to personally challenge all of you to become involved in a new aspect of this club. We have Meetings, Mall Shows, Contest, Float Fly’s, Combat, Air Shows and much more. You should seize the year and do something that you have always wanted to, but never have. We are only here once; “I should have” is not the kind of thing you want to hear yourself say.
Anyway, good luck to all and here’s to a full year of great flying,
Chris

COUNTY PUTS LOCKS ON THE GATES
The Parks & Recreation department has replaced all of McCormick’s locks with their own county locks. We still have access using our lock but the procedures have somewhat changed. Both ourselves and McCormick Woods will use “our lock”. It is very important that we lock up after we are done flying because we will not know who opened the gate. The lock position of "on post or gate" may still work but to be certain that we have some security:
Make sure that if you are the last to leave the field that you lock the gate!

CLUB DUES ARE DUE SOON
The following is an excerpt from the clubs By-Laws concerning club dues:
“Section 2. All club dues shall be payable to the club Secretary/Treasurer. A grace period of 45 days from 1 January, or until the February meeting, whichever comes first, will be granted to allow regular club members to pay dues and renew AMA membership. During this grace period, those members who have not paid dues or renewed AMA membership will not have voting or flying privileges. After the grace period has expired, any regular member wishing to rejoin the club will be required to pay a $15.00 processing fee in addition to regular dues. The processing feel will not apply to active duty military personnel.”
In the past we have overlooked the grace period penalty for late payment and some members have taken advantage of this and have flown as late as July without paying dues, and then only paid the pro-rated amount of $20.00. This grace period processing fee will be enforced starting in 2004. To avoid the extra $15.00 cost PAY YOUR 2004 DUES BY THE FEBRUARY MEETING! To ensure you are a paid up member we will use “CLUB CARDS” on the frequency board vice AMA cards. Remember, you cannot get a 2004 club card without having a current 2004 AMA card. If you do not have a 2004 club card you cannot fly after February 9th 2004 until your dues are paid.

SAFETY REPORT
There have been some safety issues raise by some members as of late that should be addressed so here goes.
All of these safety items have happened as of late and it is getting everyone in the pit area nervous. We have had some close calls and luckily no injuries! The best safety rule of all is to use “common sense” and don’t think you are a better pilot that you are. Know your limitations. Ed.
