Newsletter of the Kitsap Aircraft Radio Control Society (KARCS), NOVEMBER 2004 |
Greetings All,
I have a couple of updates and reminders for everyone.
First, the videos of the Air Show on VHS or DVD are now available from Patricia at West Sound TV you can order them directly from her 360-613-9734.
Also, our annual banquet is coming up Jan. 8, 2005. As a part of the fun we give out awards to individuals who have stood out above the rest. These awards are for things like most crashes, most time in the boat at the float flies and so on… If you know of a member that should be recognized for their achievement contact either Al Franklin or myself.
Lastly, The club has been given a Kadet Senior and a flight box. The plane needs to be finished, but it is built and covered. If there is a new member out there who needs a good trainer to learn on, contact me directly.
I will see you in the Pits,
Chris Bessex, President, Kitsap ARCS

FIELD NEWS
Knowing that we won't get the County to do our whole upgrade as shown on Al's model at the same time, we need to take one thing at a time. Everyone seems to agree that moving the tree line back is the most important, and easiest to accomplish issue, we want the County to be responsible for. With that in mind, we are trying to get the County to contact loggers that might be interested in moving our tree line back about 200 feet. We are interested in companies that would do it for the logging rights to the trees, therefore, no cost to us or the County. If anyone has knowledge of a company that will do this, let me know right away, please. We will start working on other things little by little.

2005 Club Event Schedule
This schedule is shown on the home page.
The following pertains to the 2005 schedule:
For 2005 we have planned a few more events than we did last year. A couple of these involve inter club events and of course there are the special displays or demonstrations that always pop up and we some how manage to squeeze them in. We just take these as they come.
New to the list of events for the coming year will be a club picnic at Little Field. We have Invited the SRAC (Snohomish Radio Aero Club ) to join us for what promises to be a fun day! There will be a Fun Fly with some very simple events that are geared to ALL members where a novice pilot with a trainer stands as good a chance as a highly experienced pilot with a fancy 3D plane. And, that's not all !! The SRAC guys have been holding an event called Wild & Whacky Wings where the crazier the plane is, and it must fly, the better your chances of winning. We'll be doing our version of this at this event also. The rules and guide lines , which are very simple, will be published on the web and in the next Arclight. Also new this year, we have been invited to a fun fly at the ERMA ( Evergreen Radio Model Assoc. ) at their field just north of Everett in Marysville. Their President, Roy Mitchell has volunteered to make a presentation at one of our club meetings in the very near future.

Editors Note
Hi ARCS,
I am always looking for some short (one page or less) articles that I can use for the newsletter, especially during the non-flying season. If you have something that may be of interest to our members please send it to me. It has to be aviation related but not necessarily RC.
A reminder for those of you who have not yet picked up your club T-shirts or name badges, they will be available at the November 9th meeting.
I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Ed
