2005 FLOAT FLY SEASON OPENER
For those of you who weren't able to attend the first float fly of the season at Crocker Lake; you all missed the perfect day.
Lots of sun, a light breeze, and the water was ideal. AL Franklin, Bob Brusa, and myself represented the ARCS. There were several members from the ORCA’s, as well as the Shelton club.
Bob Brusa got his feet wet and became an official float fly pilot.
Hope we can get more of you out next month. If you haven't had the experience of landing and taking off water, you should really consider joining us.
Take Care and good flying,
Danny Mason

WILD & WACKY WINGS
Mark your calendar for our July 23rd Club Picnic and Wild & Whacky Wings ( WWW) ............. Picnics we all understand, but what the devil is WWW? Well, it's just like it sounds; an event for goofy or crazy R/C planes. For an example some of the planes I've seen in similar events had fuselages made up from a series of plastic pop bottles, another one used an air mattress for wings and on yet another the wings were a series of vertically stacked venetion blinds. Just let your imagination and ingenuity run wild and go for it.
We’ve invited the Snohomish Radio Aero Club (SRAC) to join us in the fun. They have been running this event for eight or nine years now and it's one of their larger yearly event. Along with the picnic and WWW we will be putting on a few simple competitive events for more traditional R/C planes. The key here is that any and all types of planes and pilot proficiency levels will have an equal chance. Some great prizes are planned for this and WWW.
WWW Rules
1. Entries can be scratch built or originate from a kit or be a modified ARF. 2. All entries must be radio controlled. 3. Power is optional, i.e. gas, electric, glow, glider or ? 4. Powered planes must at least be able to take off or be hand launched, clear the end of the runway, fly downwing past the end of the runway and make a successful landing. Gliders must display a reasonable measure of control (this includes all planes) and at least fly as far as possible down the runway. 5. All entries are subject to a basic safety inspection with regards to structural integrity and controllability. 6. Awards will be decided by an impartial Judge's.

A Note From Bill Bambrick (ARC # 27): Gents: I just had a call from Bob Hunt of the AMA, informing me that Model Aviation will be printing the article I submitted to them. He didn't say when, but I gather it will be sometime within the next few months. Thanks to all of you for the inputs and pictures.

EDITORS NOTE
Hi ARCS,
I apologize for the sparseness of this months Arclight. It’s always a challenge to keep you updated with the latest news and to find interesting subjects for you to peruse over. If anyone has any information that you would like to share with the members please send it to me and I will gladly put it in the Arclight. This can be an article, an interesting story, RC pictures, a comment about our hobby, the club, or what project you are currently working on. Since medical problems have prevented me from attending any events this year, a report on how things went at the club events would also be helpful.
Thanks,
|
