June 25th FUN - FLY “RESCHEDULED”

All:

As you know we had a fun-fly scheduled for June 25th. The weather, however, didn't cooperate and there were only four pilots who wanted to fly in the contest.

We discussed it and felt that four wasn't enough to make it worthwhile.  As a result, we (the four pilots) decided to postpone the event until the 16 of July.  The reason we chose this date is it was the only one that wouldn't interfere with any other well attended event.

The schedule will remain the same: sign up at 9:00, Pilots meeting at 9:30-9:00; First flight at 10:00.

I certainly hope we can get more than four out to fly.  No matter how many we have we will fly, weather permitting.

I still need help with scoring, registration, and timing.  If you can help or have questions, please call or email me.

Thanks,

Danny Mason

Aeronautical Jokes

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter -- and therefore, unsafe.

When one engine fails on a twin-engine airplane you always have enough power left to get you to the scene of the crash.

The Piper Cub is the safest airplane in the world; it can just barely kill you.

(Attributed to Max Stanley, Northrop test pilot)

A Huey Cobra practicing autorotation during a military night training exercise had a problem and landed on the tail rotor, separating the tail boom. Fortunately, it wound up on its skids, sliding down the runway doing
360s in a brilliant shower of sparks. As the Cobra passed the tower, the following exchange was overheard:

Tower: "Sir, do you need any assistance?"

Cobra: "I don't know, tower. We ain't done crashing' yet!"

2005 Combat Season

If you want to join the fun in 2005 all you need is a “cheap” airplane that weighs a maximum of 3.5 lbs. with a maximum .25 size engine. 1st place wins a new OS .25FX engine and plaques are awarded to 2nd & 3rd place finishers. Ed.

Note: No input on the June Combat - Sorry.

EDITORS NOTE

Hi ARCS,

I am sure that you have noticed this months newsletter is considerably shorter than usual. I try and keep you updated with the latest club doings but it takes inputs from the members who are involved in the events and meetings. Without those members help there is not much I can do as editor but try and insert something of interest. Here again, inputs from you on what would be of interest would be helpful. My deadline for inputs is the 28th of each month so the newsletter can reach all members by the 1st or 2nd.  Next month watch for a great article submitted by Al Lewis on the Great Plains Super Stearman (link to picture) that covers the building of this beautiful airplane.

The date for the Club Picnic in last months Arclight was in error and I do apologize.

The correct date for the picnic is JULY 23rd.  Ed.
