COVERING MATERIAL WEIGHT COMPARISON CHART (Link to chart)

These weights are very accurate and will provide a very good standard for comparison.  However there may be small differences between samples of the same material due to manufacturing processes., types of dyes, etc. These weights for the different covering materials are very useful in planning the final weights for your model airplanes. This is most important when  building small competition free flight models; however this information can be very useful for your smaller R/C models as well. Always build as light as possible as lighter airplanes fly better and hit the ground softer.

More signs placed on the hi-ways to guide visitors.

b. Format should be adjusted to make the show longer, provide more handouts in the information booth, move the static display as in past shows, have more than one airplane in the air at a time. pick by ticket drawing for time on a buddy box, and add a building project booth.

HINTS, KINKS, AND STUFF

(Thanks to Pete Granger for this excerpt from the TriArea RC Flyer’s newsletter)

Ever have trouble marking motor mounts and then not be able to see the marks or dimple from a punch or other tool (like the Great Planes centering bit)?  Me too.  I tried a little different approach that worked great!  I cleaned the motor mount with alcohol and put the adhesive part of a post-it note on the mount where the holes were to go.  The engine was held in place, the holes marked using my GP tool, and without moving the engine I looked to see if the holes looked right.  They were all correctly placed (I could actually see the centers because of the light colored paper) and I drilled right through the papers.  The paper stayed put until I peeled it off.

2005 RC AIR SHOW

This years Air Show was the best we have had to date. Although the attendance was way down from past years (only 110 visitors) the club really put out a great effort. We cut down to one show performance which worked out really well for the pilots and allowed for a better show. All aspects of RC aeromodeling was demonstrated and amazed the crowd. See this months Meeting Minutes for the critique. Ed.

WHEN AT THE FIELD….. THINK SAFETY

EDITORS NOTE

Hi ARCS,

Having been the clubs newsletter editor and web master for the past three plus years I have been looking for a replacement.  Monte Foust (ARC # 7) has tentatively agreed to take over the newsletter and web site tasks starting in October.  Monte has newsletter experience, knows the web and has the necessary equipment to continue giving our members a great service.  It has been an interesting and enjoyable tenure for me and in some ways I will miss the monthly challenge but it is time to move on and devote more time to building and flying airplanes.

Take Care & Happy Flying

Jim  Montell
