FROM THE LEFT SEAT
I'd like to thank everyone who turned out for the June 3rd work party. We did lots of mowing, runway patching, brush cutting and we got the gate working like it should have a long time ago. I can't remember a time when the field has looked this good ! Now let's try and keep it this way. Please pick up after your selves. Remember, " IF YOU BROUGHT IT IN , TAKE IT OUT." This includes cigarette butts also.` .. With all the guests that we expect at the Electric Fly In and the Air Show this summer we would like to proudly show off our site. One thing that I've heard about is that no sooner had the crew finished patching the runway than some pilots were landing their combat planes ( withy no landing gear ) on the runway with the engines still running. Come on guys !. Either come in dead stick or else in the grass just beyond the runway. Speaking of the runway; we discussed the condition of the fabric and the unevenness due to the water washing out underneath at the recent board meeting Since it will be some time yet before the Parks Dept. will be in a position to give us a permanent surface, it appears that we will have to totally rework what we have. Perhaps this coming fall or winter would be a good time to look into doing this. .Any Ideas ? Brian Campbell had an unfortunate accident just before Memorial Day weekend.. He got his hand caught in a winch and ended up with a badly broken hand and lower arm . Fortunately, he will fully recover, but will spend the better part of the summer in a cast and in rehab. We're all pulling for you Brian. I'd like to thank Jim McEdward for all the fine and hard work he has put in on the Armed Forces Day Parade in Bremerton on May 20th. A great job, Jim. ! Also, a thanks in advance on the up coming Fathoms of Fun Parade in Port Orchard coming up on June 24th. Let's all give Jim a big hand and also pitch in and lend a hand by participating in these events. Don't forget; the June meeting is the first of three summer meetings at the field and of course the June meeting is our traditional Swap Meet. |
