ARCS MEETING MINUTES

April 10th, 2007

Meeting called to order by President-Bud Arnold at 7:00 pm

New members: Kenneth Jones, Pete Brown

Guest: Paul Hall and Linda Jones

Treasures report: Read and accepted

Minutes: Read and accepted.

Field Maintenance: No report

County/Field Committee: Proposal for the grading of the runway and cutting of trees was submitted to the county during March. Bud Arnold and Bob Brusa attended the advisory committee meeting during March; Bob Brusa explained to the parks department advisory committee the AMA’s recommendation for how big the field should be. Bob Brusa stressed to the advisory committee that we need at a minimum of 57 acres of land in order to have a safe operating field. Bob explained how a local motor cross club would like to co-use the land adjacent to the field for their needs, the parks advisory committee stated that there should be no problem regarding this issue.

Safety: It was brought up that there should only be four planes in the air at any one time. Also to make sure that frequency pins and frequency control is adhered to. The new spread spectrum radios were brought up by Verlyn, and how we need to be very careful with this new technology.

Events: April 14th will be the youth expo at Kitsap County fair grounds. May 12th will be the spring opener and club picnic. The suggestion was made that we ought to have a

Pot- luck for the spring opener. Combat started on the 6th of April with four combat pilots showing up. The electric fly in will be held in July with the date yet to be determined, a director of ceremonies will be needed for this event.

Instruction: The introductory pilot program was brought up by Verlyn Grange; the club will sponsor those individuals who have been identified as instructors for this purpose.

Old Business: The visit to Port Townsend was a complete success, Bud Arnold explained a bit of what the club is all about. The donation was made on our behalf; Danny Mason stated that he received a letter of appreciation from the founder of the Museum.

Float Fly; Danny Mason stated that we would not be able to fly gas planes at the new lake due to the size of the lake. If there are any electric fliers with floats this would be an ideal place to do so.

The Armed Forces day parade was brought up by Jim McEdwards and he stated that he has the paperwork for the parade. He would like to also have a poster or sign to place on the side of his truck that would advertise the upcoming air show at little field. He also brought up the Fathoms of Fun parade during the summer.

New Business: Verlyn Grange made a motion that we ought to sponsor Kyle Woyshnis and Mike Carreiro for their representation of the club during competition; this will be accomplished by purchasing a gas card in the amount of $300 and $200 respectively. The motion was seconded and voted on. It was accepted and the monies will be disbursed accordingly.

Verlyn Grange stated that we need to start an introductory pilot program in order to thank the local business that helped out with the building of a ramp at Verlyn’s house.

As of tonight Danny Mason asked that we need a new chief instructor due to his upcoming retirement. Lorin Miller will be the interim coordinator for the instructor program.

Bud Arnold would like to start a contribution bucket for the veterans at retsil center. Verlyn will handle the money can for the veterans.

Drawings and prizes.

The Quarter Drawing is carried over to next month.

Show and Tell:

Jim McEdwards showed a pair of Extra 3.25 that were built by Jim and Lorin Miller, the planes were build to look identical including the Pepto Bismol graphics in the side of the planes. They are fitted with OS max engines, and a color scheme that will make you want that Pepto Bismol.

Juan Andrade showed a kit built .30 size helicopter by Thunder Tiger, he explained its operation and how the control surfaces differ from regular fixed winged aircraft.

Juan was voted the winner of the show and tell.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM. Next Meeting, May 8, 2007: 7:00 PM at the Sunny slope improvement club.
