June 22, 2008 2nd Annual Electric Fly-In was a lot of fun. Many airplanes and a helicopter showed up. Electric Larry put on a GREAT EVENT!! Hats off to Larry!! He showed up with beverages and enough pizza for everyone. One of the highlights was a giant scale electric helicopter that put on a great show. We had a couple foamies, tons of Flying W's and many other types of aircraft. We're all looking forward to the 3rd Annual Electric Fly-In. click here for pictures.

Sergeant First Class Mason with Parkzone Spitfire KITSAP ARCS SALUTES SERGEANT FIRST CLASS IAN MASON (son of Danny Mason) who is currently on his second tour in Iraq, with the Army. Sgt. Mason is back to flying RC again. Above is a photo of Sgt. Mason with his Parkzone Spitfire. Danny has asked all the guys to keep Sgt Ian Mason in their thoughts and prayers over the next year. Danny also announced he will be in Port Orchard this summer and is looking to renew old friendships and get some flying in. Danny has been flying his electrics in Seven Western States. May 31, 2008 John Rowley's Biplane has been identified. Click here May 27, 2008 Lorin Miller put together a glider building workshop for kids. He has been working with eight children in helping them build their first model airplane, a "Simple Glider". This occurs each Monday night at the Knights of Columbia (corner of Burowell & Montgomery, Bremerton, WA). They started their first glider, last Monday. He expects a few more Mondays to go and they will be finished and ready to fly their free flight gliders.

Ron and Boots are rebuilding the ARCS Ghost Squadron May 14th, 2008 Need your help this coming Saturday for the PARADE FLOAT. Jim, Denise and Lorin do an outstanding job every year with the float. Most of the time, the float wins awards. The regulars who usually show up to help setup are not able to make it this year. We need your help!! Please bring an airplane(s) to be mounted on the float. Most planes are hung from the float and if your able to have a wire/string/rope in place on your airplane, so it may be hung, it goes a little quicker. If not, that's ok...just bring your airplane and there will be string/rope available to tie the plane onto the float. We will meet at Lorin's home about 6:30 am (at the very latest, the plane needs to at the float by 7:00am. Yes, I know that's early and most of you need your beauty sleep. However, there will be a lot of children and adults (who still think their children) along the parade route. They will really get a kick out of seeing your airplane on the float. I know, as last year, I was in with the spectators when the float came by. At first, it was, "What the heck is that"? Then as it became obvious there were many airplanes suspended from the float, the crowd went wild with sayings like, "COOL...TOTALLY RAD....MOMMY CAN I HAVE ONE". It's worth getting up early, going to your favorite latte stand (on the way to Lorin's home) and hanging your plane on the float. If you don't have an airplane available for the float (crashes are known to happen on occasion). Come on out and walk along with the float as that's fun too! Loren Miller's address is 1249 8th St, Bremerton, WA 98337. Phone: (360) 373-8676. Meet at about 6:30 am. Planes need to be there no later than 7:00 am. Boot's launches three different gliders successfully with the "Boots Glider Launcher". Boots uses a servo to release the rubber bands holding on the glider. Today, there were approx. 7 successful launches. Mike M. caught a couple thermals, with his Soar Birdi, and had a 10:30 minute flight, then a 8:35 minute flight. Check out Boots' glider video made by Al Lewis...It's hilarious! Click here to go to the Video Section.
May 3rd, 2008 New Main Web Page Format - It was designed so at first glance the viewer can see if there has been anything new updated on the page during the past 7 days or so. This can be done without having to scroll down. Notice the click-able links are in yellow or white boxes. The white boxes are the pages which have been updated during the past 7 days or so. The yellow boxes have not been updated in awhile. The weather information box has also changed and now contains more information in the box. We have included a link to the Parks Dept. (as we are using their park and they have put a very nice link on their "Parks Dept. web site" coming to our website). Any feed back, suggestions are welcome....the webmaster. sotrbfh@yahoo.com April 27th, 2008 Free Bar-b-que. On Sunday, while Boots was making history, Elliott and Mike M. brought a Bar-b-que and roasted up some free Sausages for the flyers at "Little Field". To go along with the sausages were Potato Salad, Chips and sodas. Twenty sausages/buns, two containers of Potato Salad, three liters of soda and two bags of chips were quickly consumed by the flyers. Hats off to Elliott and Mike M. (that would be be, the webmaster) for the impromptu bar-b-que. April 26th, 2008 On Saturday Boots piggybacked his Fling glider on top of his Funster for what may have been the first successful piggy back R/C airplane release at Little Field.
Boot's piloted the Funster and Mike McIntyre piloted the Fling glider. After reaching a good release altitude. Boots flipped a switch on his transmitter and the glider support released the Fling. It was a smooth and graceful release as the glider began a slight ascent while the Funster went into a slight nose down attitude. Mike quickly caught a thermal and began circling with an Osprey (full-scale bird) for what turned out to be a very long flight. The Funster has a 70 inch wingspan and a O.S. 90 engine. The Fling has a 49 inch wingspan. The flight was so impressive, the following day two pilots brought out their two-meter gliders for a glider launch. Unfortunately, Boots didn't bring his Funster. Meaning, no fun for the glider pilots. Most likely, after combat this coming Saturday, Mike M. will bring out his glider (Soar Birdy) for a try at it. April 25th, 2008 Results of IMAC Polar Bear contest on April 19th and 20th, 2008. BRANDON WOYSHNIS TAKES 1st PLACE in "BASIC"!! KYLE WOYSHNIS TAKES 2nd PLACE IN "UNLIMITED"! MICHAEL CARREIRO TAKE 3rd PLACE IN "UNLMITED"! JERRY ALLEN TAKES 3rd PLACE IN "BASIC"!
Four ARC members place within the top three in their categories. Great Job!!!
April 19, 2008 AIR SHOW THE LARGEST LITTLE AIR SHOW IN THE PUGET SOUND AREA PLANNING MEETING TUESDAY, APRIL 22, '08 AT AL FRANKLIN'S SHOP Yeah, yeah. I know the Air Show ain't till September 13th. What's with all this meeting stuff so early ?? Well, if we are going to have a successful Air Show, we have a lot of ground work to do leading up to it. And, the more members who volunteer to help out, the less each of us will have to do. So please, plan on being at the meeting and help us make this"The Largest Little Air Show In The Puget Sound Area" See ya there, Al Franklin 10217 74th Ave N.W. Gig Harbor , 98332 253-857-7751 April 12, 2008 2008 Spring Opener...Many aircraft turned out for some fun and spills under the best day of the year...so far!! Huge thanks to Elliott for making sure everyone had enough to eat with some great hot dogs and sausages!! Another Huge Thanks to Rich Williams for running the balloon event, the most entertaining event!! More Huge Thanks to Greg and Harvey for helping setup the event, inform people what was going on, and judging!! Also, thanks to El Presidente Al for presenting the awards!! clap...clap...clap...clap...more applause for all the above men who made the event fun!!
This years event had three flying events...Balloon Bust, Precision Landing, and Duration Flight. Watching the aircraft go after the balloons was a great way to spend a lazy Saturday morning. Stay tuned for an upcoming video of the action. The Precision Landing event proved challenging to all, but a few pilots easily mastered it. Terry had the longest flight of the day with 2:23 (I think?) duration time. This was full throttle for 10 seconds, then cut throttle and wait for the plane to touch the ground or the engine is restarted.
Larry, as usual, brought out a new airplane to fly. A F-86 electric Ducted Fan. This was a very impressive plane. Unfortunately, it helped earned Larry the "Best Crash" Certificate. Click here for the video. Larry, also unwittingly participated in the Bomb Drop event, but was way off target when he accidentally ejected his battery pack during a knife edge loop (also in the video).
Verlyn brought out his newly rebuilt aircraft for it's maiden flight on wheels. It flew great. Next week, it will be floats for Verlyn and his plane at the "Crocker Lake Float Fly".
Mike M recently acquired a Piper Cub built by former KARCS member Ron Going. He brought the Cub to the field (in case there was a sudden down pour) and won the Pilot Pick award for "Best Plane". Pilots Pick Awards.
No Pic...sorry. Terry won "Best Flight"
. April 6th, 2008 2008 Maytown Float Fly was fun!! Over 50 aircraft on floats showed up. The winds during the morning were slight allowing the smaller aircraft to fly. During the late morning and afternoon the winds picked up. This stopped the smaller planes, but the mid size and large aircraft had no problems. The lake was very long and very open. Lots of runway to take off from and land. Kitsap ARC members Bob Brusa and Mike M. showed up. Bob Brusa brought out his beautiful Stinson Station Wagon float plane in which he received many rave comments, both on the aircraft's scale appearance and Bob's great stick skills. The take-offs and landings were very scale like. (Click here to watch Bob's video.) Mike brought out his Somethin Extra and commented he only wanted to be able to get the plane in the air. It was Mike's first time on floats. Mike got his wish and the Somethin Extra took to the air with no problem. The take off was very smooth and graceful, with a good steady climb out. However, about 15 seconds into the flight, once the Somethin extra leveled off on the downwind leg, Mike abruptly lost control and the plane took a nose dive into a cow pasture. Mike should have hoped he could have made a smooth landing, rather than just getting into the air. Hopefully, there will be a 2009 Maytown Float Fly. This is a great event, whether your flying or you just come out as a spectator! April 1st, 2008 KITSAP ARCS is looking for someone to make and distribute the Monthly Club Newsletter. Mike M. has been doing this the past year, but it's time to pass the fun on to another person. If you would like to volunteer, contact Mike M. webmaster@kitsaparcs.org
Mar 23rd, 2008 From the Left Seat I recently received a flyer for “The Victoria B.C R/C Club’s 2008 Air Show”. WOW! They drew between 6,000 to 8,000 spectators & donated nearly $20,000 to a local hospital. Now, this seems like a lofty goal for the ARCS to attain. However, we can learn a lot from these folks. I’m currently in touch with the coordinators to get some fresh ideas that we can utilize. Let’s make this the best air show in the Puget Sound Area! On April 22nd, we’ll have our first 2008 Air Show meeting. Everyone is invited to attend. At this meeting, we’ll set up committees and analyzing ideas from the Victoria club. We will also outline our game plan for our Air show. Let’s work hard & make this our Best Air Show Ever! On our April 8th regular Club meeting (at Sunnyslope Club House). We are honored to have Jerry Thoutte as hour guest speaker. As some of you may remember, Jerry is the Director of the Port Townsend Aero Museum. The story goes beyond his being director and his efforts to finance the new museum building tentatively scheduled to open this summer. Jerry takes in aircraft restoration projects from all over the country. What makes this unique is a large portion of the labor is preformed by youths. These youths do all phases of restoration. Many learn how to fly airplanes. A very high percentage of these young men and woman have graduated into full time employees in the aviation community in the fields of Flight Instructors and Air Line Pilots. In appreciation for Jerry’s efforts and dedication, I urge everyone to attend the April meeting and join me in making a donation to the Aero Museum. In anticipation of his talk, please check out the Museum web site @ www.ptaeromuseum.com. Also, please see Michael M’s February write up of the museum at Port Townsend Aero Museum. On March 21st, Brian Campbell and myself, made a trip to Sequim to pickup a load of model kits, engines and supplies from Mr. Howard Hupe. Howard had retired from 50+ years of modeling. His interest was primarily ˝ A sized free flight and R/C, most of which are electric. Howard donated items to the KITSAP ARCS with the intention of being the items being used for our kids program. Obviously, some of the items we have are not conclusive to the kids program. At the April 8th meeting we will discuss the best utilization of these items. Keeping in mind the intent of the donation. I’ll bring a few of these models to show what we have and discuss where we go from here. As usual, ice cream & pastries after the club meeting. See ya there, Al Franklin ARCS President

We have so much going on...it takes up too much room on the Main Page of this web site. Therefore, small change in the web page format. Our Main Page will contain two months of upcoming event information. We now have a separate "Calendar of Events" for the entire year, located on a different page. The year long calendar can easily be accessed by clicking on Click here for the 2008 Kitsap ARCS Event Calendar , located at the top and bottom of the Upcoming Events Calendar, on the main page. Click here to read all about it Feb 21st, 2008 (updated with map on March 1st) MARCH CLUB MEETING MOVED DUE TO THE SUNNYSLOPE CLUB HOUSE BEING CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE, WE WILL BE UNABLE TO MEET THERE FOR THE MARCH 11th MEETING. INSTEAD WE'LL MEET AT AL FRANKLIN'S SHOP ON MARCH 11th FOR A COMBINATION MEETING AND OPEN SHOP. Feb 20th, 2008 All enjoyed the tour of Les' model airplane shop put on by Les and Robin. Robin made a delicious Cranberry and Orange Bread. Les showed off some of his previous projects, current projects and new projects. Thank you Les and Robin! Feb 18th, 2008 Lost Veteran reunited with pilot. The lost combat plane's owner has been found. It is Brian Campbell. He lost the aircraft during a combat event in September of 2007. Dennis said, "Funny thing is that he (Brian Campbell) said Elliot helped him look for it that day in September and it was Elliot's mis-fortune on Feb 17th that initiated a search that found both". As an added note, last week Brian Campbell's Catapult launcher video reached the "viewed over 1,000 times" mark on RC Universe. If you haven't seen the short clip of the Campbell Catapult Launcher, here's the link Campbell Catapult Launcher. Feb 17th, 2008 Lost Veteran found West of Little Field. Very few planes live to retirement in our hobby. On Feb 17th, one of our club members was flying his usual hot dog flying when the unexpected happened. The plane didn't respond to controls and crashed deep into the woods, west of Little Field. All present club members, immediately began searching for the downed plane. It was found. The giant 70 plus inch wingspan model had made it's way to the ground, below the thick trees. Unfortunately, the once whole aircraft was in more than 100 smaller pieces. An obvious total loss to the airframe. However, during the search, one of the searchers, Dennis came across another airplane which had also made it's way to the ground floor of the forest. An obvious former combat model. Nicely preserved. It's last flight brought it down to the ground last year with not a scratch to the airframe, but the propeller and the carburetor were torn off. Quite a find by Dennis. If anyone knows the owner of the former combat plane, please let the owner know he can contact Dennis Lokken to reclaim the combat plane and get it back into the air.
Dennis Lokken with found Combat Veteran The first day of combat is March 1st. First battle begins at High Noon.
Feb 10th, 2008 Al Franklin wins 1st and 2nd place at the NW Model show!! Myasis Dragon Red Zepher Four Star 120 Al's Myasis Dragon Racer took 1st place in the Sport category. The model is covered in only Monokote, including the dragon! Very nicely done. Al took 2nd place in the Antique (pre 1940) category with his Red Zepher. Remember Al's mishap at the Canadian Fly-in? Well, he rebuilt the Four Star 120 and it took 2nd place in the Sport category! Great Job Al!!

Photo by Mike Carreiro Last Sunday brought some warm weather and blue sky with winds less than 5 knots. Here is Jerry having a little fun with his Extra 260 during a knife-edge fly by.
Jan 6th, 2008 Corrections to earlier postings. 1.) It was Boots and Mike McIntyre who had shoveled the runway for the Frosty Finger Fly-in and not Verlyn. 2.) It was Danny Mason who had the first crash of the year 2008 and not Al Franklin. ***************************************************

Jan 1st, 2008 Frosty Finger Fly-in. E-Flight Ultra Stik Mike McIntyre
This year's Frosty Finger Fly-in lived up to it's reputation of being C-O-L-D. However, there was no wind, resulting in great flying weather...that is for this time of year in the Pacific Northwest. Mike McIntyre flew his E-Flight Ultra Stik (equipped with lights) for a four minute flight which ended at six minutes into the new year. Mike and Verlyn Grange braved the cold weather for this historic flight. It was dark at "Little Field". A red tube light on the port wing and a green tube light on the starboard wing helped make the aircraft more visible to the unaided eye. Al Franklin had the honors of the first crash in 2008 (followed by other aircraft throughout the day). Corkey had the first dead stick landing. Two days prior, Mike Miller had came out to "Little Field" only to find a snow covered runway. That night, he built skies for his Somethin Extra. The first words out of his mouth, when he arrived at the field for the fly-in were, "Alright, who shoveled the Runway!!!" Those honors went to Mike McIntyre and Verlyn Grange. Thanks guys!! Without the runway clear of snow, almost all of the aircraft would not have been able to fly during the fly-in. Over 26 different aircraft flew.

Boots made this cool (I mean warm) looking wind guard for his transmitter. During these cold windy months, this box keeps his hands warm. The foam insulation actually will keep the wind out and some heat from your hands in. It has a clear, hard plastic window on top which is tape hinged on for easy access to the transmitter when starting the airplane. Several members of the club have tried it and liked it! Cool...I mean Warm Idea Boots!!

Verlyn Grange puts on one man show for the US Navy and Marines. A day before the Winterfest event, last Friday, Verlyn volunteered to put on a display promoting our club for the Navy MWR. MWR accepted, but we didn't have much time to prepare. Mike and Verlyn printed out "hand-out brochures" promoting the club and Verlyn manned the Kitsap ARCS display. It was a successful evening. I know today, one person, who visited the display, came by "Little Field" to watch the guys do their thing with the aircraft. Thanks Verlyn!!! ****************************** The Throne has been taken! Early Saturday morning, the owner's of the Port-a-Potty, reclaimed the Port-a-Potty. They stated the contract had been cancelled. The Parks Dept. has been cutting back on the Port-a-Potties in many of the public parks this year. They had been in touch with Kitsap ARCS two weeks ago stating our club would have to pay for the Port-a-Potty if we wanted to continue having it at "Little Field". The club volunteered to take over the lease and begin paying for the Port-a-Potty. Somewhere, along the paperwork road, something went wrong and it was picked up. On Monday, President Bud will be on it to get the "Little Field" throne returned to it's rightful place. Nov 20, 2007
Al Franklin's "Rebuilding "Seminar" was a great evening of information on how to repair damaged aircraft. In front, with the yellow wings and red/white body is Verlyn's, twin electric, "Point and Shoot" airplane. He brought it in for some advice on how to cover around complex curves with his covering material. It was almost finished when I left. The white fuselage behind his airplane is Mike's Shamrock Biplane with some holes in the fiberglass fuselage. Mike received some great advise on how to repair the holes and cracks in the fuselage. The yellow upside down fuselage (next to Elliot) is Elliot's Venture. It's now in one piece, but he brought it in with one half of the fuselage in one hand and the other half in the other, it had been broken into two pieces. Jim's RV-4 flies as good as it looks! This year's Fall Closer was Great!! Over 26 different airplanes showed up with over 50 take offs and over 50 smooth landings (minus one). The winds were calm, with the exception of some thermal activity during the afternoon. The thermals kicked up the winds to at least 3 knots, not more than 4 knots, every once in awhile. Blue skies and little white clouds, here and there, made for picture perfect flight photos (see the photo section...click here). Boots flew his flying wing. His own design, made out of styrofoam. He hollowed out the foam between where the ribs would have gone and put cap strips over the left over foam ribs. It's powered by a .25 2-stroke and is extremely light weight. This adds up to a quick and very sensitive combat plane for next year. Danny came out early, in the morning, and flew three of his electrics. Sorry, Danny, I was so happy to be back at the flying field (with a flyable plane), I forgot to get the camera out for your planes. Lorin Miller flew a tiny biplane and Terry brought out his huge Yak. There was a large variety of aircraft flying from basic trainers to speed demons (Pole Cat), all the way to the big time IMAC aircraft Terry brought out. Chris Bessex showed up and put on a great little Air Show with his Aeroworks Extra. It was a great day of flying!! Oct 7th, 2007 Tucson Aerobatic Shootout 2007. Kyle was flying his usual totally awesome 3D flying when the unfortunate happened. Kyle, as always, was pushing it to the limits got a little too close to the ground. Kyle's rudder scrapped the ground. Touching the ground resulted in a zero overall score for Kyle's Freestyle. Kyle, knowing he had zeroed out his chances of winning the competition, continued his routine and gave the crowd an awesome air show! True sportsmanship!!
On the bright side. I'm sure videos of Kyle scrapping the ground will be the most viewed videos on the web for the rest of this year and the beginning of next year. Only the top five progressed from Friday's round of flying Advanced and Unlimited classes to the Saturday's competition. Unfortunately, Mike nor Kyle were among the top five after the day of flying was over on Friday. The Tucson Aerobatic Shootout is an invitational event only. Only the top pilots, from around the world, are invited to fly. Kitsap ARCS is proud to welcome home our two pilots Kyle Woyshnis and Mike Carreiro!! Oct 6th, 2007 Sam wins 2007 season ARCS Combat!! Congratulations to Sam for a long hard won battle this year. Corkey take 2nd place and Brian Campbell battled his way to 3rd. Oct 5th, 2007 Tucson Aerobatic Shootout update Strong cross winds of 20 MPH with forecasted 35 MPH gusts are hampering Friday's flying in Tucson. At time of this posting, scores are unknown. Top five pilots, after today's scores are calculated into the overall score, will move onto the finals tomorrow (Sat.). Oct 4th, 2007 Tucson Aerobatic Shootout overall scores after Thursday's flying. Kyle Woyshnis moves from 7th place up into 5th place in Unlimited! Mike Carreiro moves from 12th place to 11th place! Two more days of knowns and unkowns competition, then the Freestyle competition on Sunday. Oct 3rd, 2007 Tucson Aerobatic Shootout scores after first day of flying. Kyle Woyshnis is currently in 7th place in Unlimited with less than 200 points separating the top seven pilots! It's still anyone's competition. Mike Carreiro is currently in 12th place in Advanced. Sept 15th, 2007 The crowd loved the annual airshow. 176 non-ARC spectators showed up to witness the Kitsap ARC members put on a very memorable Airshow. Kyle Woyshnis and Mike Carreiro put on a very impressive Freestyle show which absolutely WOWED the crowd. All eyes were glued to their aircraft as Kyle and Mike do what they normally do. We wish to thank Kyle, Mike and Brandon for taking the time off of the competition circuit to fly in the Airshow. Yes, Brandon was there too with an outstanding IMAC routine! We had six combat aircraft up at once. That's a record for this year! The combat team flew three rounds with Boots getting cuts in the first and second rounds. The crowd loved it as Boots flew around with another person's streamer on his wing. A guest Helicopter pilot, Jeff King, came down from the RAMS club and put on one terrific Helicopter show! Our field has never seen such an impressive control of a helicopter. The crowd went wild after his performance! Another guest pilot did a fly by in a full scale experimental aircraft during the lunch break. John Rowley flew a very smooth aerobatic routine. We're glad to see John back at the field! Corky flew his scale Spitfire extremely realistically, including the landings! The crowd really liked the retracts on the Spitfire. Lorin and Jim got there Canard flying. Not only does it fly straight and level, but it seems to roll very well. Later, Lorin setup a buddy box and gave a flight demonstration to an audience member. Terry brought out to of his planes and put on a great show!! We sure appreciate Terry flying with only a few minutes notice! The crowd appreciated it as well as was obvious by their applause. Anthony Bessex put on a great show with his Magic. He makes it look so easy! Les and Danny did a great job announcing. They really kept the crowd entertained not only during the flying, but between performances. Verlyn, Elliot and Juan did an awesome job directing traffic! The behind the scenes person who made the Airshow happen was Bud Arnold. If it wasn't for Bud, we may not have had an Air Show this year. He had his hand in just about everything to make this all come together. During the Airshow, he was out setting up Airshow Signs which had been blown over by the traffic, otherwise the spectators may not have found us. A huge Thank you to Bud Arnold!! There are many people who did alot of work with publicity, sound systems, catering, setting for the event and tearing down. Thank you!!
Sept 10th, 2007 MIKE CARREIRO wins Advanced Class with Perfect Score in Tri-Cities IMAC competition. KYLE WOYSHNIS takes 2nd place in Unlimited Class. BRANDON WOYSHNIS takes 3rd place in Basic Class. GREAT JOB!!
Brandon (left) Mike (Center) Webmaster note: Sorry, I was not able to find a photo of Kyle on the web. If anyone has one of Kyle at the awards ceremony, please send in the photo. Sep 3, 2007 MIKE CARREIRO wins Advanced Class in NAMPA IMAC event! Mike then goes on to win the Freestyle contest! Congratulations to Mike. After the event, World renowned full scale Aerobatic Pilot Greg Poe stopped in and gave some pointers to Mike. Mike Carreiro wins Freestyle & Advanced Class! Mike Carreiro and Greg Poe. Sep 2, 2007 ARCS take part in Bremerton Blackberry Festival
At the last moment, our Club was invited to the Blackberry Festival at the Bremerton Airport. Bud and Verlyn were able to setup a display. The Blackberry Festival coordinators were so impressed, they asked us to come back next year. (Little do they know, how many airplanes we have and how much we like to show them off!) Aug 18th, 2007 Biggest news of the year...so far! The Tucson Aerobatic Shootout (TAS) is an invitation only event. It's one of the elite model aircraft events of the year. To compete, you have to be selected among hundreds of applicants from around the world. The contestants have been selected for this year's Shootout. They come from Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, Australia,, and all over the USA. We have not only one pilot from our club selected to compete, but two pilots!! I don't believe in the history of the event, two pilots from the same club, have ever been selected to compete at the same Shootout. Congratulations to Kyle Woyshnis who will be competing in "Unlimited" and Mike Carreiro who will be competing in "Advanced"! The Tucson Aerobatic Shootout will be held from October 3 through October 7, 2007. Brandon Woyshnis did not compete in this contest. Aug 11th, 2007 Great turn out for this year's "Wild and Wacky" plus Fly-In. Jim brought out his home built Canard. It flew well, but sure looked odd in the air. Brian Campbell brought out his Catapult Launcher and gave a couple demonstrations on catapult launches. Many pilots showed up early with their planes. The last person to leave was just after 3 p.m. See photos of the event at Club Pictures. Aug 4th, 2007 Sam Hovey wins Combat event for August and becomes the current Points Leader. 1st PLACE FOR MIKE CARREIRO with Perfect Score!! ******************* KYLE WOYSHNIS 2nd PLACE IN UNLIMITED CLASS!!
The two day IMAC Olympic Challenge competition proved to live up to it's name, but our two club members proved themselves again! The first day, weather was near perfect for flying, with bright blue skies and a slight wind. However, the second day brought torrential downpours of rainshowers and extremely gusty winds. Folks, I witnessed a parked 40 something percent plane blown backwards on the ground. At times, tents and canopies had to be held down by three or more people to prevent the wind from blowing them away. In between showers, the contestants flew. It's difficult to achieve a high score under normal conditions, but despite the wind and rain, Mike Carreiro was awarded a perfect score, giving him 1st place for the Advanced Class!
Kyle was scheduled to fly, just after a terrible mid air crash between two aircraft, which resulted in one plane spinning into the ground. Kyle went up during one of the strongest winds during the competition. Despite the strong winds, Kyle kept his cool and flew his aircraft to 2nd place in the Unlimited Class!
The Freestyle was cancelled due to the weather.
Congratulations to both of these Kitsap ARC members!!!

Early Saturday morning this beautiful Piper Cub arrived at "Little Field". Harvey is the proud builder/owner of his huge 104" wingspan Sig kit. It's powered by a SAITO 100 and covered with Coverall. Same material some real aircraft are using for covering. The nice, yellow Cub paint job was sprayed on by Harvey. Building time, 1 1/2 years.

Kitsap ARCS Float, once again loaded to the gills with aircraft, made a grand statement as it floated it's way through the parade route. The Bremerton Armed Forces Day Parade is one of the great events in Kitsap County. Between 130 and 200 entries participated in this years parade. Thousands of people lined the parade route and cheered the participants. Music playing, people dancing and a festive atmosphere prevailed in this yearly Parade.
However, this year, there was a moment when the parade came to a halt. The crowd (including participants in the parade) was bewildered as to why the parade wasn't moving forward Hurriedly, people excitedly began pointing towards the front of the parade. Seconds later, a United States Air Force jet did a low level fly by directly over the length of the parade route. The crowd went crazy! The fifty Harley Davidson riders, in front of me, began revving their engines all at the same time. Folks, if you've never felt the ground shake, then you haven't been near fifty Harley Davidson riders revving their engines. The crowd loved it.
The parade began moving and along came the Kitsap ARCS Float. At first, people, were saying, "What is that?" As the float drew closer, the many airplanes were more clearly visible and the kids excitedly began screaming, "COOL", "NEAT", "MOM, I WANT ONE!" The Kitsap ARCS Float volunteers had did their job. Click here to see Parade Photos.
May 16th Everyone's been anticipating the new Frequency Use Chart. Now it's here!! Take a gander at what frequency your fellow club members are using at the field. The chart is intended to help club members when choosing a new frequency with their new radio.
May 12th Kyle Woyshnis wins Unlimited Class and Mike Carreiro takes 2nd place in Advance Class in Medford Madness IMAC competition!! Congratulations to both these Kitsap ARC members.
Spring Opener is huge success! (see photos under Club Pics) The tables were full of aircraft and everyone had a great time. In part, because there were no aircraft crashes which caused any serious damage to the planes. Gotta love that! We had a few spectators who filled our bleachers and all seemed to really enjoy the impromptu air shows put on by our ARCS pilots.
Mike Carreiro put on a nice demonstration with his Cardin, showing off the finer points of aerobatic flying. Mike Carreiro was also on hand many times, as a spotter, giving tips on how to improve a pilot's aerobatic technique.
Terry Hubbard was showing how much fun it is to fly 3D with his Yak. A large thanks to Terry for always being there and helping promote the hobby of R/C flying at Little Field.
Special thanks goes to Bud Arnold who mowed the airfield lawn making it look great for the Spring Opener!
Rich mentioned how great the field is looking and huge kudos for everyone using and maintaining the Cigarette Butt receptacle. The Pitts area is looking great all the time now. Each week, there is no garbage, old rubber bands or cigarette butts on the ground. Bud Arnold stated a representative from the Parks Commission toured Little Field on May 11th and was impressed with how nice we're keeping the field!
Thanks to everyone who helped put the parade float together at the field. Jim has taken it home to prep. for the parade next week. Which brings us to the next topic...
May 8th Boots' combat plane which ended up high in a tree after a mid-air crash is now back on the ground. On May 8th, the wind blew it down.
Danny Mason has his Pre-Retirement sale going on, please see the section "For Sale/Wanted" for a list of items and their prices.
Bud Arnold has found someone who will take your jacket and put a high quality Kitsap ARCS logo on the back of the jacket. Then he will put your name on the front of the jacket. Price for this is only $55.00. Once you see the quality of the work you will realize it's a bargain. See Bud for how to complete your order. Don't have a jacket? No problem, Bud also has a catalogue containing some snazzy jackets. He will bring it to the club meeting Tuesday (May 8th).
While we're talking about attire, Terry Hubbard has some nice Kitsap ARC baseball caps in his possession. Actually, he has a lot of these baseball caps. They're selling for $10 each. Folks, it just doesn't get any better.
Wayne Dement was presented the Kitsap ARCS "Flight Qualified" certificate on April 28th (Saturday). Lorin Miller had the honors of presenting the certificate. Earlier this month, Wayne had passed the Kitsap ARCS Flight Qualification Test administered by Terry Hubbard. Wayne demonstrated the ability to safely operate a radio controlled aircraft in accordance with the KARCS Club requirements. Further, he had successfully performed these requirements without taking his airplane home in a bag. Congratulations Wayne with being KITSAP ARCS latest Flight Qualified miniature aircraft pilot!
The newsletter contained the incorrect dates for the Parade on June 30th and Wild & Wacky in August. The current calendar has the correct dates.
