Danny's new project
Our roaming Kitsap ARCS Member Danny couldn't stop building model airplanes. Although, he is now living in a traveling 5th wheeler. Here is his Mini-Telemaster with an e-flite 400 brushless. 3 channel, 48" span. He plans to setup the plane on floats. ********************************************* Fred's Cool F15 electric ducted fan

Bill Bambrick's Lancaster Bomber. First Flight Day. This plane was built from scratch, using plans from Ivan Pettigrew, of B.C. but modified to reflect the Dam Buster version flown by W/C Guy Gibson against the Ruhr dams in 1943. The Model weighs 15 pounds, and is stick built. Power is provided by four Kyosho can Motors (Magnetic Mahems) turning 13 X 8 3-bladed props, running on 20 NiCad cells. Wiring is series-parallel. Power density is 51 watts per pound. Al Gross (left), of the Port Angeles Club, shown in the picture with Bill, was test pilot for the successful maiden flight, which was made in July.

Larry Dunn was my inspiration to have my very own "Flying Hydroplane". If you'll recall, Larry put on a great demonstration at last years Wild and Wacky Event.. (I gotta have one of those). Then around Christmas time, I was chatting with Jed Casey and remarked that it would be neat to take one of these on our annual trip to Lake Shuswap, British Columbia next September. Jed's response was, "Have I got a deal for you! I already have a Hanger One, hydroplane Kit. If you're interested in checking it out, You can put it together while I'm down south for the winter." A deal was formed.
It's called Miss Hanger One and is from Hanger One Hobbies in California, and for all the world looks like a scaled down Miss Budweiser. It's 33" long and has a beam of 19" and a flying weight of 16 oz. Construction is primarily of 3mm Depron foam. There are a few parts made up from 6mm Depron where extra strength is required. All of the foam parts are laser cut and fit beautifully with no extra trimming required. However, as the instructions boldly state, "This is not a Kit for Beginners". They were right too and it's a shame. What's missing is a plan view and/or an exploded view showing where the various model parts, which are unmarked, go. After struggling with the directions and finding out that it is easier to paint the pieces of the model prior to assembly, I managed to get it together.
Power comes from an E-flight 370 Outrunner with a Phoenix 10 ESC and a 900 ma, 3 cell LiPoly battery. I'm using a J.R. Computer radio with mixing capabilities, HiTec HS-55 servos (3) and and APC 9 X 6 Prop. Larry Dunn has agreed to be the test pilot with the initial flight coming sometime in the early spring.
Note: Hobby Outlet stocks a very nice kit of a similar model. I believe that it's by Great Planes. It's worth checking out.
