Speed Test Day

We were hoping to have a day at Little Field where members could test the air speed of their aircraft via a radar gun. Verlyn reported that he might have access to a gun and that he would coordinated the event. Unfortunately he has been unable to pull everything together in time for the event, tentatively scheduled for September 25th. Our thanks go out to Verlyn for his efforts, and hopefully we will be able reschedule the event at a future date.

Runway Replacement

We will no longer be needing jugs of water. Thanks to all who went out of their way to bring water to the field. We now have a 550 gallon water tank and hoses. Bud Arnold sold us use a gasoline powered water pump. Brian Campbell found that we can get water donated and brought to us by Port Orchard Sand and Gravel. The set-up will easily power 2 watering hoses; the grass is on the rise.

In the early fall we will be dethatching the existing grass/weeds on the near side of the runway and reseed for better grass. Use of a thatching machine has been donated. We would like some volunteers to run the machine and rake up the remains.

Pylon Racing

Due to a lack of participation and interest, pylon racing has died a natural death and the pylons have been placed on the ground. There may be a discussion at a future regular meeting whether to remove the pylons from the field and possibly store them for future use. Brian may also raise the subject of whether the membership has a desire for any kind of competition event, apart from the current Combat! series.
